You will gain the right skills and qualifications, boosting your chances of earning more money and possibly some of the following
- Keeping you ahead of new regulations and new technology
- Supporting your day-to-day life, such as helping your children with their homework
- Giving you more control over your future
- Increasing your confidence at work and in your home life
- Recent research also suggests that higher qualified, better paid people are healthier
We will work with you to develop positive behaviours and make sure you understand your rights and responsibilities as individuals and members of society. You may be able to use the skills that you develop to support others, for example family members.

Our courses and qualifications
Our consortium offers a wide range of courses and qualifications. As well as those which are included in this section, we are happy to discuss other options based on your individual needs. Full details will be discussed when you register with Skills & Development Alliance. This helps the assessor to prepare an individual learning plan that provides the support you need to meet your learning goals.
Vocational Qualifications
Vocational qualifications (VQs) are work-related qualifications. They’re designed to allow you to learn in a way that suits you, and give you the skills that employers are looking for. There are lots to choose from, in a wide range of subjects.
Apprenticeships
As employees, apprentices earn a wage and work alongside experienced staff to gain job-specific skills. Off the job, usually on a day-release basis, apprentices receive training to work towards nationally recognised qualifications. Anyone living in England, over 16 years-old and not in full-time education can do an apprenticeship.
Apprenticeships can take between one and four years to complete depending on the level of apprenticeship, the apprentices’ ability and the industry sector. The minimum salary is £2.60 per hour (from 1st October 2012 will change to £2.65 per hour); however, many apprentices earn significantly more.
Programmes for the Unemployed
In these challenging economic times, it's vital we all have the right skills to gain employment and improve our career prospects.
The Alliance’s range of unemployed training provision is aimed at those who are currently out of work and offers support, training and advice to suit the needs of the individual learner.
Those who take part in the scheme undertake practical, constructive work based units from Employability Skills qualifications such as time management, team work/team leading and interview skills. Learners will also choose from one or more vocational skills pathways to complement the rest of their skills development programme.
We are also able to offer FREE IT training to all unemployed learners.
Basic Skills
We offer English, Maths and IT support for those who need to brush-up on their skills. We encourage all learners to achieve Basic Skills qualifications to Level 2 (GCSE), as this is the level needed to fully operate in society.
Provision available includes stand alone English, Maths and IT qualifications or full GCSE’s.
Professional Development
Professional development refers to skills and knowledge attained for both personal development and career advancement. Professional development encompasses all types of learning opportunities, ranging from specialist IT courses to SAGE Accountancy and PRINCE 2 Project Management training.
Professional Development courses may be accredited or non-accredited and can be delivered to groups outside of our premises.
